Toyota C-HR PHEV Production Started in Turkey: 140,000 Units Target for 2025
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey started production of the new generation Toyota C-HR PHEV model at its Sakarya factory. This marks a historic milestone as the first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) model produced in Turkey.
Production Targets:The company plans to produce 35-40,000 units of the C-HR PHEV by the end of 2024. For 2025, the target is much more ambitious: 140,000 units. This figure represents an important milestone for Turkey's PHEV production capacity.
Model Features:The new generation Toyota C-HR PHEV is equipped with advanced hybrid technology:- Electric range: 66 km (WLTP)- Battery capacity: 13.6 kWh- Total power: 223 HP- CO₂ emissions: 22 g/km- Charging time: 2.5 hours (AC 7.4 kW)
Importance for Turkish Market:According to the regulation that came into effect in Turkey on July 26, 2024, a Special Consumption Tax (SCT) reduction is applied for PHEV vehicles with a range above 70 kilometers. For vehicles with engine displacement not exceeding 1600 cm³ and SCT base not exceeding 1,350,000 TL, the SCT rate is set at 30%.
The C-HR PHEV qualifies for this regulation, providing significant tax advantages in the Turkish market. This situation allows the model to be offered at a competitive price thanks to both local production and tax advantages.
Impact on European Market:C-HR PHEV models produced in Turkey will be exported not only to the Turkish market but also to the European market. This strengthens Turkey's position in the European PHEV market.
Toyota's investment is considered an important step for Turkey in electric and hybrid vehicle production. Especially considering the European Union's target to ban sales of internal combustion engine vehicles by 2035, PHEV production has critical importance.
Future Perspective:Toyota's PHEV production investment in Turkey sets an example for other manufacturers in the sector. Turkey's geographical location, developed automotive infrastructure, and skilled workforce offer ideal conditions for PHEV production.
The 140,000-unit production target for 2025 will significantly increase Turkey's PHEV production capacity. This will both increase PHEV accessibility in the Turkish market and strengthen export potential to the European market.
Conclusion:The start of Toyota C-HR PHEV production in Turkey is an important development for both the Turkish automotive sector and the European PHEV market. Thanks to local production and tax advantages, the model will have a competitive position in the Turkish market. The 140,000-unit production target for 2025 will make Turkey an important player in PHEV production.
